project Brief  :

The Britannia Bridge stands at 60m high and is located in North Wales linking Anglesey to the mainland. The 150 year old bridge carries the A5 and railway over the Menai Straits.

In 2004 Total Access (UK) Ltd was commissioned by Mouchel Parkman to carry out the 6-yearly detailed examination of the structure. The works included a full tactile condition survey of all spans, a detailed examination of the hollow box girders, and the provision of safety boat cover for both Total Access (UK) Ltd and Mouchel Parkman. Investigation works were also carried out in the vast hollow “Cathedral” abutment and the two hollow vertical piles within each of the three main stone piers.

Total Access UK Ltd specialises in safe working in areas of limited access; much of our inspection work is undertaken either utilising roped access or confined spaces entry techniques.
