BSi Release new Revison of BS 7883 :05

CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE DESIGN, SELECTION, INSTALLATION, USE AND MAINTENANCE OF ANCHOR DEVICES CONFORMING TO BS EN 795

 

In August 2007 an amendment (Amendment No.1) was incorporated into BS7883:2005. We have prepared the following explanation for our customers so that you are kept abreast of all the relevant changes.

 

Summary of Changes

 

Definitions of Masonry, Stonework, Brickwork and Blockwork are provided 
                                                                                           

Clause 3.22 - 3.25 inclusive

Backplates for through type anchor devices - Deals with and includes a recommendation that the backplate should be designed in such a way as to prevent it, and any nut, from falling in the event that the eyebolt is unscrewed by an examiner who does not realise that the installation is a through fix type.                                        
                                                                                       

Clause 6.1.5 and Clause 10.11

Additional guidance on minimum edge distances in various types of structural materials. 
                                                                                            

Clause 8.2

Recommendations on the content of the examiners report following periodic examination. 
                                                                                            

Clause 12.1.3

Suggested factors to be reviewed or considered before commencement of a periodic

Recommendations on other aspects of the installation that should be checked during a periodic examination.
