Equipment tested against a specific European Standard during the process of CE marking, to for example the European PPE Directive 89/686/EEC, will usually be done so via the harmonised standard for the country it is being tested in; such resultant certification is pan-European and not country specific.
Please also note that for the continuation of a CE Mark certification for certain products, additional quality assurance / product surveillance is required; e.g. for Category III (complex design) products of the European PPE Directive 89/686/EEC, additional quality assurance must be conducted in accordance with either Article 11A or Article 11B of PPE Directive 89/686/EEC from which an EC Declaration of conformity is produced.
Please note that the current revised version of any of the European Directives, are detailed on the European Commission website at www.ec.europa.eu
