Collective Fall Protection

Collective fall protection solutions are designed to protect more than one person falling from height. They protect all employees collectively without them needing a harnesses or restrictive working line.

Examples of collective fall protection include systems for fragile rooftops and skylights, walkways and ladders gantries, demarcation barriers and guardrails. 

Walkways 

Walkways offer workers a safe and obvious non-slip walking route on a building that may otherwise be too steep, slippery or fragile to walk on. Using a combination of bearer sizes and fixing kits, we can supply PVC-U or aluminium anti-slip walkway compatible with the majority of roofing systems in the UK including Aluminium Standing seam systems; Polymeric single ply and bituminous membrane systems; Built up and composite roofing systems and traditional slate/tiled roofs. 

Ladders & Stairs 

For safe vertical access where a staircase cannot be provided a vertical ladder or ships type ladder may be installed. We can design, manufacture and install access ladders and stairs that conform to BS EN ISO 14122 (Safety of machinery. Permanent means of access to machinery), stairs, stepladders and guardrails to suit almost any application, made from aluminium, galvanized or stainless steel.  

Rooflight Protection 

Sadly, too many people lose their life or experience life changing injuries due to falling through a skylight or fragile roof.  Where a worker is accessing a roof and fragile roof areas are present there is a risk of a fall. Rooflight covers protect workers from a fall by providing a visual reminder and physical barrier to the fragile area. 

Collective fall protection solutions for use around skylights, rooflights and dome lights are provided through a modular, free standing system for areas up to 2m x 2m.  Fall-proof covers are designed to prevent the potential for falling when access across a fragile roof is required and roof-light covers used when access across a non-fragile roof is required within 2 metres of roof lights. Rooflight protection also compliments use other forms of personnel protection including horizontal life lines.

Guardrails 

Acting as a physical barrier, guardrails are designed to completely remove the risk of a fall from height, protecting several workers at the same time. No matter the type of guardrail installed, they should be designed to provide a minimum edge protection height of 1100mm. Demarcation Barriers 

Plastic, free standing demarcation barriers guide the user across a roof avoiding all fall hazards and are positioned to indicate safe areas away from exposed edges. The demarcation systems may be utilised as a stand alone system or integrated with other products such as guardrails and walkways.  It should be noted that demarcation only acts as a guide and as such is low down on the hierarchy of control.

Installation, Testing and Certification

Collective fall protection solutions should be installed by a competent company and be inspected periodically to maintain safety standards.
